Happy 4th of July...!!!
So, where are you going this week-end??? The weather's suppose to be great for the next few days, so...
Anyway, we'll be open everyday no matter what so if you stay in town, you can swing by. For Sunday, we'll feature the DRUNKEN CHICKEN!!! The bird is seared and then stewed in beer, it keeps it very moist and tender with great flavors.
What about the wine, you will say...??? Well, we got some new stuff in including 2 roses.
The first one is from Alain Allier from Domaine Mouressipe. This cuvee, called "Galejade" (means a joke), is a blend of the typical grapes you can find in the Languedoc : grenache, syrah and carignan. Very dry with a light pink color, it drinks like pink lemonade!!!
The second on is from Austria. Schilcher is a wine produced solely in the Austrian region of Western Styria, sharing a border with Slovenia and Carinthia to the south and west. The wine growing area is the smallest in Europe. The Schilcher wine itself is a distinct rosé made from the indigenous Blauer Wildbacher grape. A deep ruby color, a very aromatic nose full of wild flower keeps surprising you when you taste it with a great long finish.
Then we're going sparkling with Andrea Calek. This wild guy helps Gerald Oustric (Domaine Le Mazel) to make wine in Ardeche. He lives in a trailer by the vineyard and make some wines on his own. We chooses the sparkling, blend of chardonnay and viognier,"Blonde 008"!!! Nothing to say about it beside "TRY IT"
Last but not least, a white Saumur (100% Chenin Blanc) from Domaine de la Tour Grise 2002. Beautifull balance between acidity and freshness, honey, green apple and citrus notes, it's a winner with oysters!!!
Cheers

Well guys... Sorry I'm a little late!!! I've been busy and out of the country for the last 3 weeks. With no cell phone and a very limited internet access, I didn't really followed what happened in the world beside the shitty weather in New-York.
I was, at the opposite, living with an almost permanent air conditioning, the caribbeans are crazy damn hot for the season!!!
Anyway, I'm happy (and sad) to be back in that good old Big Apple. First of all because where I was, the choice for wines we like is limited... I celebrated a big event with a magnum of Morgon Marcel Lapierre 07 and a Riesling Grand Cru 01 from Marcel Deis. Meanwhile, I managed to put my hand on a case of Bandol Tempier Rose 08. I was expecting a case of magnum as well, but the good people from Balthazar took them all!!!
Also arriving after a long wait, the great wines of Eric Pfifferling from Domaine L'Anglore. The amazing cuvee "Pierre Chaude", very fresh, with fruity and black olives tapenade notes, leathery with a spicy and powerful finish. The yummy Tavel, one of the darkest rose out there (with the Rosato from Massa Vecchia), that expresses the strength of the Terroir and the unbelievable spicy, fruity, earthy Comeyre in mags. Located in Tavel, Southern part of the Rhone Vallee, Eric created his Domaine in 1988 on 7 hectars of gallet-strewn, farming organically, natural yeast, no filtration.
Yet another great winemaker that finally Kermitt Lynch will share with the West coast, Maxime Magnon. After working with winemakers like Jean Foillard (Morgon), Anthelme Selosse (Champagne) and Thierry Lallemand (Cornas), he end up vinifying @ Domaine Maria Fita in the Hautes Corbieres area. Then he manage to put his hands on some vineyards in the same area. The land is very tough to work, produces very low yield but is more affordable. So in 2002, he makes the big step and create Domaine Maxime Magnon.
Nowadays, with 9 sheeps, a donkey and a jersey cow, he works his estate in an all naturl way. We starting with a cuvee called "La Demarrante", 50% carignan and 50% cinsault coming from 30 to 50 year old vines. "La Demarranre" in the Beaujolais means "The last glass before leaving", a fruity, yummy wine to share with friends that makes you move forward... Coming this week!!!
For the Sunday Night Delicacies, we'll Spare you some Ribs... what about that!!!
