What's going on???

October 30, 1964, it's late @ night when owner Teressa Bellissimo was faced with feeding her son and his friends a late snack. Having an excess of chicken wings on hand, she fried up the wings, dipped them in a buttered spicy chile sauce, and served them with a blue cheese dressing as a dipping sauce to cut the heat... the Buffalo Chicken Wings were born...!!!
16 000 days later, we'll celebrate that creation offering you some freaky good ones with an addictive rosemary/blue cheese dip... Again, thank you Antero!!!

Now, about wine, what's new??? First of all, every week we'll have a "Special" by the glass. We started this week with a white, "Le Grand Blanc" from Henri milan. A beautifull blend of grenache blanc, roussanne and vermentino. Rich, creamy, aromatic, floral and very fresh @ the same time.

Due to a colder weather, we're switching to a Cotes du Rhone. "La Sierra du Sud" 06 from Domaine Gramenon. Using natural treatments and homeopathic-style, Michele Aubery-Laurent, with help of son Maxime-Francois, got certified biodynamic in 2009. This cuvee, 100% syrah (syrah/sierra), got a layered bouquet, round tannin, blackberry notes and a spicy finish.

Couple of great new wines this week, and of course, magnum style...!!! We've been waiting the first one for a little while. It wasn't finish so got bottled late but fortunately made it here before September. "Sauvignon de Saint Bris" 2007 is made from vines planted in 1945. The plot's about 1 acre with a north-west orientation, that allows the grapes to ripen slowly. White fruit notes, a touch of spices, great balance in acidity give an endless finish... off the meter!!!
Due to low yield in 07, a very limited supply came to us with an exclusive bottling in mags... Thanks to Alice and Olivier.
If you dig this wine, it's available @ Chambers Street Wines, 148 Chambers Street.

The 2 other wines are red, made of my favorite grape and from the region right below mine... yes they are gamay from beaujolais. Made by "The 5th of the band of 4", the Brouilly Vieilles Vignes 2006 magnum along with the Chirouble Vieilles Vignes 2007 (1/2 bottle) by Georges Descombes are among those wines that make you rethink about Beaujolais... Floral nose, violets aromas, red fruit notes, clean and straightfoward with a high drinkability, will encourage you to drink them anytime, anyday with anyfood...!!!
