This week, we'll accommodate them Basque Cider Style.
The Morgon Foillard 08 has just landed!!! I had one yesterday @ "Roman's", the new restaurant from "Diner", "Marlow & Son" and "Marlow & Daughter". Just out of the container, it needs some time to settle, so we will sit on our magnums for a few weeks, sorry!!!
During my little trip last week, besides the tasting in the Loire Valley, I spent a couple days in Paris to visit some friends. Just after landing, I headed straight down to "Le Verre Vole". As always, great tasty fresh food, simply prepared just to please your palate like a rich hare & chocolate terrine, smoked herring salad with orange, red onions & black olives, half-cooked beef roll with savora, parmesan and fresh herbs. I picked a bottle of Fleurie 08 from Yvon Metras, already rich and deep...!!! Almost made it.
A stop @ "Ma Cave Fleury", a cosy wine store/bar rue St Denis. Means between a couple of vibrant glasses of cuvee 1995, you can go free your mind in the peep-show across the street.
Then, time to go see David @ "Le Garde Robe", rue de l'arbre sec. More of a wine bar/store, you can munch some tasty dishes, including a gigantic croque-monsieur. Cosy dark atmosphere, the way we like, full of nice friendly people who love wine, and yes, that includes women.
Time to go for dinner. I'm joining 3 good friends of mine @ "Le Baratin", rue Jouye Rouve. I got in first, gave a nice hand shake to Pinouche an Jerome and ordered a bottle of Fleurie 06 from Jean Foillard. At the first sip, I knew that this dinner would be paired with some luscious Gamay from him, from "Cote du Py" 07 to "3.14" 06 with some Fleurie 06 and "Corcelette Vieilles Vignes" 07. Along Raquel's food, it was a blast!!!
I'm looking forward to go visit him and great neighboors , have a Morgon Day.
